The concept of outsourcing should not be new to pharmaceutical companies

The idea of outsourcing clinical trials took a dramatic increase two decades ago and continues to increase at a rapid pace. It is estimated that by 2006 close to 45% of all drug development finances will be allocated to outsourcing to such companies as Limdato, www.limdato.com. Prior to the 1990’s these finances settled somewhere around the 5% mark. Outsourcing of such projects involving clinical research include site management organizations (SMOs), academic medical centers, private research sites and CROs as well as pharmaceutical and biotechnology in house clinical research.
